Essential habits of children Anicha Digital

To set the foundation for a child to become responsible and successful adulthood they should develop some essential habits. Some of the essential habits are regular exercise, good nutrition, adequate sleep, bedtime routine, reading, building courage, kindness ,hygiene, responsibility, time management, respect and honesty, appreciation . These essential habits can also improve children’s overall health and well-being.

Let’s see how we could develop these habits:

Regular Exercise:

By doing exercise regularly you’ll find that you’re more energetic and also you fall sick less often too. You may not have time to hit the gym for an hour or two, but a short burst of daily exercise is an essential healthy habit for childrens. Everyone can definitely find 15 minutes in their day to exercise. This can be as simple as going for a brisk walk or doing some ground exercises. Childrens should exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight, build strong bones and muscles and to improve overall health.

Good Nutrition:

A well-balanced and healthy diet is very essential for childrens. Especially in children, it does not happen overnight. They need to be encouraged to eat fresh foods like fruits and avoid fatty and sugary snacks. Avoid giving them sugary treats when they achieve something. Instead, you can also switch to fun, tasty and healthy alternatives like dry fruits, nuts, and home-made juices. Such a good mix of food items will provide your child with enough energy to survive the day and focus on the important things.

Adequate Sleep:

Getting enough sleep is a healthy habit that many students struggle to incorporate in their lives. Most people need at least eight hours of sleep every night in order to function optimally. So set your schedule to ensure that you’re working toward this goal.

Follow A Bedtime Routine:

If you lack a bedtime routine, you may find it difficult to wind down and enter “sleep mode”. Establish a routine that you can follow, night in and night out. This can be as simple as:

  •       Take a shower
  •       Dim the lights
  •       Put on some relaxing music
  •       Read a few pages of your favorite book
  •       Journal for a few minutes
  •       Turn off the lights

Make Reading A Habit:

This habit opens up the gateways of knowledge for your child apart from serving as a healthy pastime. Let your child realize that books can be one of the best companions. It also helps to develop language, communication and cognitive skills.

Building Courage:

This is the best way to build courage and develop confidence. Yes, it’s scary to face your fears, so I encourage you to start small. List your fears and decide on a tiny action you can take today to overcome just one of those fears.

Be Kind:

It is important to teach kids to be empathetic, helpful and generous. It is good to teach kids easy ways so that they can touch other people’s lives. This includes being kind towards humans, animals, and the environment. Being kind teaches kids to be compassionate and teaches them to be thankful for what they have in their lives.

Hygiene:

Habits such as washing hands regularly, brushing their teeth twice a day, and taking a bath daily will keep children hygienic.

Responsibility:

Children should make sure they are responsible for taking care of their own belongings, completing tasks assigned to them and contributing to household chores.

Time Management:

Children should learn to prioritize tasks, set goals and create schedules  to manage their time effectively.

Respect and Honesty:

Children should learn to show respect to others, including their peers, teachers, and family members. They should learn to be honest and truthful in their interactions with others, which builds trust and fosters healthy relationships.

Appreciate Others:

Childrens should understand the importance of appreciating others when someone does a commendable job. This may be difficult for a few children as they feel down or upset for missing out on the opportunity of success but it is good that they appreciate others for showing their generosity. If the child is agitated to inculcate this quality, it is the parent’s duty to motivate them by praising them for every good thing they do.
